D'bar gallery are happy to announce their May exhibition and introduce upcoming artist Tamara Armstrong.  Fresh and exploding with colour Tamara's first exhibition with d'bar is titled INSIGHT.  Her collection encompasses a love of owls, geometrics and passion.  Tamara will also be making artist apperances each weekend during the month of May.

Murwillumbah Theatre Company 'Up Pompeii'

Murwillumbah Theatre Company continues to bring you stage versions of BBC comedies with its production of Up Pompeii opening on Friday May 24 at the Murwillumbah Civic Centre Auditorium.  If you have a taste of classical attributes of Roman comedy such as slapstick, courseness and blatant sex jokes, Up Pompeii is for you!

Based on the original characters devised by Talbot Rothwell and Sid Colin for the Frankie Howard BBC Comedy, this hilarious romp through ancient Pompeii brings back all the television favourites in this full-length play written by Miles Tredinnick and directed by Julie West (Director of The Vicar of Dibley and 'Allo 'Allo).

The wonderfully cheeky script is packed with gags as corny and as old as the show's setting and littered with double-entendres.  A riot from start to finish.

The show continues on Saturday 25th May and 1st & 8th June at 7.30pm and Friday 31st May and 7th June at 7.30pm.  Matinees are on Sunday 26th May and 2nd & 9th June at 2.00pm.

Cooly Rocks On

Now in it's third year, this fun-fuelled event is the biggest 50s and 60s nostalgia festival in Australia.  Centred around Tweed Heads and Coolangatta, the ten day event attracts over 70,000 people to celebrate the fabled music and lifestyle of the era as they browse through retro market stalls, sampling vintage style food and dressing up for the street parades, shows and outdoor concerts.

A highlight is the parade of 1000 hot rods, custom cars and classic cars cruising from Kirra to Tweed Heads every evening.

Bonfire Kirtan Night Festival

15th Tweed Antiques & Collectables Fair

Dealers from a wide area will offer a wonderful array of antiques, collectables, fine china, jewellery, crystal, furniture, books, postcards and much more. The Fair is a must for the discerning collector, the enthusiastic decorator or the lover of antique and vintage items. Refreshments will also be available. The Fair will be open from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday, 10 August 2013 and 10 am to 3 pm on Sunday, 11 August 2013. Entry is $5 per person, with accompanied children (under 12) admitted for free

Tweed Valley Banana Festival

One of the major annual events in the Tweed Valley, the Banana Festival features art and craft exhibitions, fashion parades, banana display and lots of social events. On the main parade day over 150 floats representing community groups, local businesses, religious groups and the Festival Queen candidates travels through the streets of Murwillumbah to the showgrounds where a carnival continues on into the night.

Tweed River Agricultural Show

A traditional country show at its best in the magnificent setting at the Murwillumbah Showgrounds. Jam packed with a variety of heritage displays, arts, crafts, photography, cookery at the Pavilion, dog shows, trade displays, animal nursery, horses, cattle, sheep, alpacas, bull & bronc spectacular, showjumping, ute & pushbike show, craftwork, woodchopping, grand parade and finale fireworks. If you can't make it to Flemington this year, Murwillumbah Racecourse hosts one of the biggest Melbourne Cup Day events in country NSW.

Tweed River Festival

A celebration of environment and community, the Tweed River Festival is inspired by the life-force of the Tweed River in northern NSW.  The week-long program provides an opportunity to share and discover the secrets of our river and coastal estuaries through a range of competitions, displays, boating events and walks.  The festivities culminate with a family afternoon in the park followed by an after-dark lantern parade and fireworks spectacular at the Jack Evans Boat Harbour in Tweed Heads

Tweed Coast Holiday Parks Kingscliff Triathlon

Save the day, the 8th Kingscliff Triathlon Multisport Weekend is back better, faster and stronger!  The Kingscliff Triathlon is situated on one of the most stunning coastlines in Australia and offers everyone the opportunity to participate in what is expected to be a great family oriented weekend of fun.  Swim in open water or creek, cycle a fast circuit out to Chinderah and run between the beach and mansions of Salt. 

Olympic: Swim 1.5km - Ride 40km - Run 10km  / Tempta:  Swim 300m - Ride 10km - Run 2.5km  / Junior 7-9 yrs: Swim 100m - Ride 3km - Run 500m /  Big Kids 10-12yrs: Swim 200m - Ride 6km - Run 1km.  Australian University Championships will be included in the Olympic age division racing.  All full time students are eligible.  Bring the family and friends and enjoy our Saturday events:  62km Social Ride: start the morning with a ride around the majestic Tweed.  5km Fun Run:  do it for the time, for the personal challenge or do it to enjoy the morning with friends.

Kingy Challenge: Swim Run Series

A fun community fitness event open to all ages, the annual Kingy Challenge includes a 350m flat water swim and a 4km run along the banks of Cudgen Creek.  For non-swimmers, there is an alternative option to simply do a 4km walk around creek foreshores.
